One last thing: Let’s try to sort the results by etymological similarity.[…]

Levenshtein distance between two words is the minimum number of single-character edits (insertions, deletions or substitutions) required to change one word into the other.

We can use it to determine how similar (or different) two words are.

For example, each of the following arrows indicates a Levenshtein distance of one:

Of course, based on this input, Levenshtein distance can only be calculated for orthography, not pronunciation, and doesn’t fare well with languages that don’t use the Latin alphabet, but it’s more interesting than just listing them alphabetically or something.
